Glasgow’s St. Andrew’s Cathedral marks 200 years RC Diocese of Argyll & the Isles

Church Overview. First major piece of Gothic revivalism in Glasgow, by James Gillespie Graham, 1816. The façade has substantial buttresses either side of the ornate entrance and a statue of St Andrew above the large central window.

The cathedral, which was designed in 1814 by James Gillespie Graham in the Neo Gothic style, lies on the north bank of the River Clyde in Clyde Street. St Andrew's Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Glasgow, currently William Nolan. It is dedicated to the patron saint of Scotland, Saint Andrew .
